Seagate Households Updates

New features and upcoming improvements.

Household NPC adventures pilot

Stories brings together The Blue Folio, NPC reports, recorded decisions and adventure history. Review the NPC, household leader, recipient and action durations before starting. Starts become available as pilot accounts are enabled.

New household adventure email choices open a private Households review page. Confirming assigns the action; its saved countdown appears above the NPC portrait. Email frequency can delay the next report without restarting the action.

Interrupted starts retain their retry key. Existing Forge runs can be attached explicitly, and abandoned adventures can be ended to release the NPC while preserving their history. Reports and decisions are recorded once in the household adventure journal and NPC memory when enabled.

Record your intentions in catchup

When an event offers a choice, select a response and add an optional explanation or plan. Review your intention and the game effects, then confirm the choice. Your response and intention are saved in the event journal.

Unfinished responses survive refresh in the same browser tab. If saving is interrupted, Retry saving choice confirms the same response without applying the event twice.

NPC Forge Weather artwork in catchup

The catchup Activity Log now displays the same saved month artwork as NPC Forge Weather & Timelines. Images are matched by DQ month name and follow changes made in Weather. A local illustration is used only when the saved image is unavailable.

Catchup month images restored

All twelve catchup month banners now use seasonal illustrations included with the app. They load without the old storage project, and month and season labels remain visible if an image cannot load.

Catchup weekly dates repaired

Older catchup entries with invalid week numbers now recover their dates from the complete period history when possible. Each period loads its own entries, and saved calendar dates remain the first choice. Incomplete records show Date unavailable instead of NaN.

Start with your DQ character portrait

When creating a Household character, select your DQ character or check its exact character ID. If it has a saved portrait, you can preview it and choose Use DQ portrait in Households. You can also upload or choose a different Household portrait.

Coming from an unconnected DQ character? Set up a new household carries its ID into setup. Saving creates the household and its DQ connection together.

One portrait card for both apps

When Households and DQ Characters share a default portrait, the character page shows one compact preview labelled Default for both apps. Change portrait reopens the separate choices, and Clear Households default remains available.

More room for NPC conversations

Explain and fullscreen now live in the existing header menu on the NPC conversation page, freeing the row above your retinue. Open the menu to find Explain NPC conversations and Maximum Screen.

Portrait defaults for both apps

Choose a portrait in the character area, then set it as the default in Households, DQ Characters, or both. Previous DQ portraits stay in the gallery.

Clear Households default restores automatic selection. Saving for both updates both apps together.

NPC task countdowns restored

Orders given through live voice now start the same saved task countdown as typed messages. The counter appears above the NPC portrait, updates every second and shows Ready when the task finishes.

Simpler NPC chat controls

The message box and microphone now sit directly below conversation history. Removed the GPT-Live status panels and voice budget badges to give the conversation more room.

Tap the microphone to speak and Stop to turn it off. Connection and permission errors still appear beside the chat controls.

Abode images and maps restored

Fixed missing floor plans and city maps caused by incomplete deployment assets. Releases now check that the production server serves these images.

If an old saved abode image is unavailable, your household floor plan stays visible. Retry Image creates and saves a replacement.

Image generation can recover from Gemini quota failures using the configured OpenAI connection.

Replaced 14 inaccessible legacy abode images using their saved descriptions and migrated the verified images to the current storage bucket.

Choose your character portrait

Open a character to preview their DQ Characters and Households portraits side by side. Set either image as the default for that character in Households.

  • Your saved choice follows the character across Households and the character selection cards.
  • Clear the default to return to automatic selection: DQ Characters first, then Households when no DQ portrait is available.
  • If a preferred portrait becomes unavailable, the other image is shown while keeping your preference.

NPC microphone fixes

Tap the microphone beside the message box to connect to GPT-Live and speak. Tap Stop to turn the microphone off.

  • Existing households without a saved voice mode now use Push to Talk. Saved Off preferences are preserved; recording a voice message remains available.
  • Improved mobile audio startup, permission guidance and microphone retries. Stop remains available while the NPC prepares an answer.
  • Voice messages use OpenAI transcription instead of depending on the browser’s speech recognition service.

GPT-Live conversations and 20 bug fixes

This update brings GPT-Live to NPC voice conversations, matching the voice experience on Mentor’s Talk page. It includes 20 conversation fixes and improved character portraits.

  • NPCs answer spoken questions using their character details, household memories and game lore.
  • More reliable microphone shutdown, device changes and reconnecting, with working inactivity limits and accurate session usage.
  • Save received speech when leaving the conversation or losing the connection, and keep follow-up questions in separate exchanges.
  • Respect the voice memory setting and prevent forgotten facts from returning through saved voice replies.
  • Clearer guidance for connection problems, missing speech and overly long questions, plus safer message submission while an answer is being prepared.
  • Character portraits fit within their cards so faces are no longer cropped off on phones and tablets.

One Account and settings menu

Your shared Forge profile and language preferences now live in Account and settings. The separate floating Your Forge details panel has been removed.

  • Edit your preferred name, personal details and languages from the same place as your account and app preferences.
  • Saved profile details are shared across the NPC Forge suite. Each app keeps its own preferences alongside them.
  • Profile editing stays inside the app, with mobile layouts, recoverable save errors and protection against conflicting edits.

Safer sessions and shared household spending

Silver pennies (SP) are now standardised across household expenses, shops and training. Both applications and the shared database protections have been released.

  • Stronger sign-in checks stop expired or revoked sessions before character changes and AI requests.
  • Expenses, purchases and funds edits keep payments made in another session. Repeated requests preserve their receipts, and wallet history supports reconciliation.
  • Rapid repeated expense submissions create one payment request, with recovery available after an uncertain response.
  • Interrupted downtime requests recover the original week and payment, even after reload or completion of the catchup period. Changed leader connections require a fresh review.
  • Household leader calculations can refresh without opening DQ Characters. Expired calculations fall back to saved attributes if refresh is unavailable.
  • Expense recovery, household finances, voice settings and playback preferences have been separated into smaller modules and checked on phone and desktop screens.

Existing balances keep their current SP value. Imports use explicit SP amounts and flag old coin denominations for review. Automated gameplay checks cover payments, retries, training, shopping and downtime; an authenticated test-account pilot remains pending. Lore search currently uses its keyword fallback; semantic index completion and evaluation remain pending.

DQ character leaders and household expenses

Connect your household leader to their character in DQ Characters. Households reads their details and keeps character editing in DQ.

  • See your leader’s identity, portrait, attributes and skills throughout Households, with clear status when calculated details need a refresh or review.
  • Pay and record household expenses from the same SP wallet used in DQ Characters. Retrying an uncertain payment keeps the same request so it is charged once.
  • Downtime settles its costs and income against that wallet, with safeguards for insufficient funds and changes made in another session.

Both applications and the canonical shared database rules were released. An authenticated linked-character and spending pilot is still pending.

Prepared for rollout

30 fixes for characters, downtime and guilds

A batch of 30 fixes has been built and tested. Deployment is still pending.

  • Character edits preserve saved aims, conversation preferences and portraits. The portrait library is now reachable, and switching accounts during a save stops the operation.
  • Adventure edits and deletions preserve other records and catchup progress. Adventures with the same title stay separate, and manual entries no longer overwrite each other when they have no URL.
  • Downtime counts complete weeks between adventures and prevents processing a completed period. Your choice to include training is saved when processing begins, so the timeline stays consistent.
  • NPC departures now update your retinue. Activity logs show the correct catchup period and campaign dates, with older unassigned activities kept separately. Subsistence lodging charges the correct weekly cost.
  • Returning from an NPC’s character sheet keeps the selected conversation. The adventure editor fits small phone screens, and guild cards support keyboard inspection, Escape dismissal and returning focus.
  • Replacing an AI guild seat preserves cards, removes references to departed members and keeps the turn playable. Invalid cards and discards outside the action phase are rejected.
Prepared for rollout

Long-term NPC memory

Built and tested, with deployment and a limited pilot still to come. NPCs will be able to recall meaningful conversations, relationships and promises beyond their recent chat history.

  • Review each NPC’s memories, add or correct facts, pin important details, mark commitments resolved and forget memories.
  • Use relevant memories in text and voice conversations, with completed tasks and recorded email choices contributing to what an NPC knows.
  • Keep confirmed facts distinct from player statements, NPC claims and rumours, with memories private to each household and account.
  • Prevent corrected or forgotten memories from returning through replies that repeated them.

Automatic memory updates will first be enabled for a limited pilot to check recall quality and running costs before a wider release.

Prepared for rollout

Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor

Prepared for rollout. Deployment and administrator activation are still pending.

When enabled by the administrator, Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor can generate NPC dialogue, reports, translations and structured text. Speech recognition, voice, images and search embeddings keep their existing providers.

The lower-cost Contributor tier allows Meta to train on submitted prompts and generated content.

Existing provider defaults stay in place until Muse is enabled. A failed Muse request does not automatically switch to a more expensive provider.
